Dec 22, 2011 路 A good grade 30W oil gives just as good, and sometimes a little better protection then a good 15W-40 diesel oil - but at a much more limited temp range. In fact, Rotella T 30W even has a higher temp range (flash point) then many so-called "synthetic" oils made from hydrocracked petro.
Feb 1, 2015 路 My son about 10 years ago in high school did a science fair project, testing different 10-30 oils for heat breakdown, flowability at -30 degrees, and friction resistance after it had been heated (boiled) for 20 minutes and at room temperature. He used 12 or 15 different brands of oil both synthetic and regular.
Sep 3, 2006 路 Well for one you'd lose some of the shakes that are more annoying at 10x. For stellar targets, there's a usefull "binocular performance index" that's been defined as magnification x square root of aperture. For 10x50 this is 70.7, for 8x40 it is 50.6. Simplistically, you could say that you'd see 40% more with the 10x50s.

I have always used Honda GN 10-40 mainly due to ease of acquiring it and to support the local Honda Mom and Pop operation, but now that they closed up shop, I will probably switch. I was thinking about going to Amsoil due to the reviews that I have received from fellow riders who use it exclusively.
Mar 9, 2022 路 Heavy towing and bad roads are included in this. Using 15w40 motor oil in the winter will make the oil flow like a fifteen-weight oil. At full working temperature, it shields the 40-pound payload from damage. Motor oil with a viscosity rating of 10w30 while the engine is cold is referred to as 10w30 motor oil.
Binoculars for whale watching, wildlife viewing and safaris: Popular models include 8x32, 8x42, 10x32 and 10x42. Go with a higher magnification (10 rather than 8) when you鈥檙e likely to be far from the animals. Choose midsize (32mm objective lens) rather than full-size (42mm objective lens) if you want something a little more compact.
